WeWork Creator Awards

When WeWork was founded in 2010, it quickly grew to become the largest co-working company. It has always attributed its success to its mission: to build more than a beautiful, shared office space; to instead build a community and a place that redefines success by measuring personal fulfillment, not just the bottom line.

In 2017, WeWork brought that mission to life in a new way: by doubling down on their commitment to their members through a global competition that awards generous cash investments in their businesses. As a traveling event series, it was important to create a system that was consistent and easy to take on the road, but still felt authentically local and community-driven at each stop. The inaugural Creator Awards event took place in Washington D.C. and was quickly followed up by Detroit and Austin before going global.

Though each event was hyper-localized, their foundation elements are the same: master classes taught by local innovators and business leaders, a job fair that fosters networking opportunities, a Creators Market featuring WeWork members’ goods and services, the Pitch competition, where top Creators battle it out for prizes tied to funding, and a concert celebration to close out the evening.
